|The Department of Human Services (DHS) reports the city’s Cold Emergency Plan will remain in effect until 7:00am, Wednesday, January 20, 2016. National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting today’s current temperatures to reach a high of 27 degrees with a wind chill in the low to mid-teens. Tonight’s temperatures are expected to drop to a low of 17 degrees with a wind chill of between 5-10 degrees with no chances of precipitation. Under a Cold Emergency, additional services and supports are put in place to protect residents who are experiencing homelessness beyond what is provided during a Hypothermia Alert.
Hypothermia season has begun. When the actual or forecasted temperature, including wind chill, is 32° or below, the District issues a Hypothermia Alert.
