Traffic Advisory for Wednesday, March 16, 2016
(Washington, DC) – The Metropolitan Police Department would like to inform the public of an evening rush hour traffic plan that will be implemented today on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, beginning immediately due to the closure of the Metro system.
- MPD traffic control officers will be present at intersections to direct traffic. Red light photo enforcement for vehicles will be suspended for outbound traffic during the afternoon/evening commute at these intersections. Please follow officers’ directions.
- If you are in a minor accident with no injuries and vehicles are in operating condition, please move the vehicles over to a safe location. Both drivers should exchange insurance, license, and contact information.
Motorists traveling to and from the city should expect major delays and should consider alternative routes, if possible. The Metropolitan Police Department and the District Department of Transportation would like to remind motorists to pay full attention whenever operating any motor vehicle, and to be mindful of traffic control officers/aids and pedestrians that may be associated with particular events. Some street closures are subject to change without notice based upon unanticipated events and prevailing conditions.
Additionally, any vehicles directed by officers through intersections during the morning commute will not be subject to red light photo enforcement for today.
