DPR Extends Hours at Select Spray Parks and Pools Due to Heat Emergency

(WASHINGTON, DC) –Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced, due to the District’s heat emergency, DPR will extend the operating hours at select spray parks and one pool per ward through 9 pm on Saturday, August 13, 2016 and Sunday, August 13, 2016. Recreation centers and other pools not listed below will operate on their normal weekend hours. (Spray parks are normally open from 10 to 7 pm daily and outdoor pools are normally open from 12 pm to 6 pm on weekends).

A heat emergency is in effect for Washington, DC. Residents are urged to take precautions against the heat. While spray parks and pools will be open for extended hours, DPR strongly encourages residents to seek relief in cool, indoor locations as there is an added risk from remaining outside in the heat.
