We are lifelong Ward 4 residents, commissioned to create a public art project at Walter Reed. This project will kick off later this month and culminate in a huge community event.
Our project will a be a colorful ribbon installation that honors the community’s feelings and memories of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in NW Washington, DC. Printed on the ribbons will be quotes from residents and any individuals connected to Walter Reed. Currently we are looking for residents, past and present, to interview for inclusion in this project.
Did you work at Walter Reed? Did you play there growing up? Were you born there?
Do you have positive or negative memories? Is it a special place for you?
How do you feel about the redevelopment? What are your concerns for the future of the community?
How would you want Walter Reed to be remembered?
These are the questions we’d like answered and included in the project to reflect the community voice and make sure it is carried into the new phase of the campus.
If you are able to answer these questions and more or know someone who can, please contact us at deirdreandaliana for an interview. Phone or in person.
Thank you! Look forward to your responses.
