Suspect Sought in Homicide: 5700 Block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest

(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are looking for a suspect in connection to a homicide which occurred in the 5700 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest on Monday, August 8, 2016.

At approximately 7:10 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to a call for a shooting. Upon arrival on the scene, members located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 45-year-old Donald Stephen Johnson, Jr.

The suspect in this case has been identified as Herman Lee Cook, Jr. He is described as a 45-year-old black male, 5’8” tall, 250 pounds, with brown eyes, medium complexion, and black hair (balding on top). Cook is currently wanted on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder while Armed and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
