MPD Assisting National Zoo to Find Missing Bobcat

(Washington, DC) – The Metropolitan Police Department is assisting the Smithsonian’s National Zoo to locate a female bobcat, named Ollie, who has escaped from her enclosure.

The 25 lb. bobcat was last seen by a zookeeper at 7:30 am on Monday, January 30, 2017. At 10:40 am, zookeepers called the bobcats for their morning feeding and Ollie did not respond. Animal care staff conducted an immediate search and have not located the bobcat.

No one should approach the bobcat if she is spotted. If spotted, call 202-633-7362. There is no imminent danger to Zoo guests or the general public. Bobcats are not known to be aggressive to humans.
