Hypothermia Alert Status

DHS reports the Hypothermia Alert is activated. According to NWS, the current temperature is 44 degrees with a wind chill of 34 degrees. Today, Rain and snow showers before 10am, then a chance of snow showers after 1pm. Temperature falling to around 35 by 5pm. Breezy, with a northwest wind 21 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Tonight, A slight chance of snow showers before 10pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 22. Northwest wind 11 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Hypothermia season has begun. When the actual or forecast temperature, including wind chill, is 32 degrees or below, the District issues a Hypothermia Alert. To request shelter transport for DC residents who are homeless and on the street now, contact the Shelter Hotline at (202) 399-7093 or 311.
