Hypothermia Alert Status

This is an important message from the District of Columbia AlertDC system.

The Department of Human Services (DHS) reports the Hypothermia Alert will remain activated throughout the day and overnight. According to National Weather Service (NWS), the current temperature is 39 degrees with a wind chill of 31 degrees. Today’s forecast calls for scattered snow showers, mainly before 1pm. Tonight’s forecast is mostly clear with low temperatures around 26 and wind chill in the upper teens.

Hypothermia season has begun. When the actual or forecasted temperature, including wind chill, is 32 degrees or below, the District issues a Hypothermia Alert. To request shelter transport for DC residents who are homeless and on the street now, contact the Shelter Hotline at (202) 399-7093 or 311.
