National Weather Service Brief: Winter Storm Watch (Monday – Tuesday)

This is an important message from the District of Columbia AlertDC system.

The Nation Weather Service in Baltimore MD / Washington, DC has issued a Winter Storm Watch, which is in effect from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon. Potential for 5 or more inches of snow within a 12 hour period. Some locations may see significantly higher accumulations. Snow will overspread the area Monday evening and persist into Tuesday. Winds northeast 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Temperatures in the lower 30’s. Impacts: The heavy snow may make many roads impassable and may produce power outages due to the weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines.

Precautionary / Preparedness Actions:
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
