We will have one major topic this Tuesday at our BCA meeting. In an effort to keep the community informed of what’s going on at Walter Reed and to have a discussion of the proposed widening of Aspen Street and the impact on parking and life in the Brightwood community, ANC rep Steve Whatley has arranged for the developer to make a presentation at the BCA’s April 11th meeting. BCA has agreed. Among the topics of the presentation are:
- Hines-Urban Atlantic-Triden (HUT) has requested ANC 4A support for the Conceptual Plans for parcel “VU” within The Parks at Walter Reed Master Plan.
- This is the first new construction vertical component scheduled to be developed within the campus, and is expected to include up to 280 multifamily rental units; 20,000-30,000 SF of ground floor retail along Georgia; and up to 80 units of for-sale condo.
- There is a proposed widening of Aspen Street as part of the development of Walter Reed.
The meeting will be held at St. John United Baptist Church 13th and Tuckerman Streets NW (6343 13th St NW, Washington, DC 20011) at 7:00 pm on Tuesday April 11, 2017.
I hope that many of our Brightwood neighbors will attend this meeting as the development will directly affect our neighborhood.
