I definitely understand your frustration regarding the streetscape project. While with any endeavor of this magnitude there will always be room for improvements all in all I think the city has done as best a job they can to minimize the impact on businesses and residents. With that being said, I do see that now that they have been using it as a staging area for their trucks and equipment and parking lot for the workers, which makes an already tight corridor even more impassible.
While I am not sure there is much that can be done at this time to diminish the footprint this project is causing on the businesses and residents in the corridor and surrounding area, I would still reach out to Paul Hoffman, paul.hoffman, to alert him to your concerns. Perhaps there is something he can do as he is the point person on this project.

Please do not interpret this as being against progress, but I truly believe the project(s ) could have been better managed and organized. How? I don’t know. I leave that to the experts.
It has practically stopped all traffic – foot and car due to limited or no access. No parking. Residents are not happy that we are parking in the residential areas in front of their homes. We are parking in the alley (when we can find parking) which is not safe.
Today, I had an successful attempt to reach the store via Missouri – let’s not mention the massive amount of construction equipment, but the police presence was unbelievable. Massive traffic jam. I tried to come through the alley, but it was blocked by cars trying to access Kennedy Street in front of CVS.
There are no signs stating that we are open for business – I would like to order signs. How do I make it happen?
Again, I am not against progress. Please point me in the right direction.

(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advises motorists to expect lane closures at the Kennedy Street/Kansas Avenue and Missouri Avenue intersection from now through July 2017.
The closures are part of a traffic mitigation plan for the Kennedy Street Revitalization project.The work includes intersection realignment, new traffic signal installation, curb and gutter replacement, sidewalk repair, and catch basin and new bus pad installation.
