Building and strengthening our local community continues to compel me. I constantly imagine people of all backgrounds and abilities, beliefs and experiences, living in peace, in full health and happiness and with a respect for diversity in its many forms. There would be equity for all people, and people would care for and enjoy the beauty around us, from the arts to the natural environment.
Imagining is great. Taking a first step is even greater.
A few friends–some from way back, some from just a few months ago–and I are taking that first step and want more of our friends to team up with us.
Please join us for a celebration to raise money for an important local organization, Arts for the Aging (AFTA), which brings the arts to the vulnerable elderly of our community and rejuvenates and uplifts them.
While there, be ready to share with others what you care about in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. You may have a clear vision of what you want to do, or you may just want to connect with like-minded folks. All in attendance will be our friends, so we know they are great people who care about making our community even better.
Then take that next step with these friends to start that project, reach out to that neighbor, or do whatever it may be that increases your civic contribution.
Let’s start with AFTA on November 4.
